STEM Girls' Day

"A day when the best companies, universities and research institutes of the country allow a glimpse behind the scenes." This year the MTA EK Space Research Laboratory participated in the young women's career orientation day focusing on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields, organised by the Association of Hungarian Women in Science.

In the complex testing laboratory - which just opened a year ago - the primary and secondary school girls glanced at the equipment used to model the extreme conditions that a satellite has to endure during the launch and operation in space. The participants learned that not only physicists, but co-workers from all the STEM fields contribute essentially when building even a smallest spacecraft. In addition, the Space Dosimetry Research Group has set an excellent example for the ambitious young women: in our team more than the half of the colleagues are women!
