Last Friday, the BME Cosmos Society Workshop Series, launched in September, continued with a visit in our Space Research Laboratory. The visit was organized by the Cosmos Society in the frame of the United Nations’ World Space Week.
Initiated by the United Nations, the World Space Week has been held since 1999, every year starting from the 4th of October, the anniversary of the launch of Sputnik-1 and it lasts for one week officially. The visit organized to our Space Research Laboratory was also registered as a World Space Week event by the BME Cosmos Society at the World Space Week Association.
The BME Cosmos Society was established in 2017 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). The members of the society are enthusiastic university citizens interested in space activities. In the frame of their workshop series, launched in September 2019, they visit the largest space companies and space research groups in Hungary in order to get experiences in a close-up view of the on-going developments and the opportunities for the young generation.

The visit was attended by seven students from different Hungarian universities. The number of those, interested in the visit was much higher; however, due to the limited space and on-going work we had to limit the number of visitors. The students could visit our thermo-vacuum test facility, our vibration test facility, our ISO7 cleanroom, and our space research laboratories and workshops. Moreover, they could pose their questions directly to the technical head of the space research test laboratory.
